A quinceañera is not a few hours of celebration. It often begins with a mass, moves to portraits, and ends many hours later on a dance floor. Her makeup has to look soft and respectful in church, photograph beautifully outdoors, and still be in place after the vals, the surprise dance and every song after that. Here is how I build a look that carries a quinceañera through the whole day, and how you can help it last.
Start with the plan for the day
Before I choose a single shade, I want to know the shape of the day:
- What time is the mass, and is the church bright or dim?
- Are there outdoor portraits, and at what time?
- How much time passes between the ceremony and the reception?
- Is there a surprise dance or an outfit change?
- What color is the dress, and what accessories is she wearing, such as a tiara, a crown or statement earrings?
